About me

Dempster is a property litigation solicitor with a broad practice. He has advised on a wide range of matters, including:

  • Possession proceedings involving the section 8 and section 21 procedure under the Housing Act 1988; social housing possession claims; devising vacant possession strategies in relation to Rent-to-Rent agreements; trespass claims; mortgage repossessions.

  • Boundary disputes and trespass.

  • Breach of lease claims, acting for both landlords and tenants.

  • Leasehold enfranchisement, lease extensions, licences for alterations and deeds of variation.

  • Right to Light; advising in relation to easements such as Rights of Way.

  • Service charge disputes in the First-tier Tribunal; claims for breach of Section 20 consultation requirements; arrears recovery.

  • Claims under the Building Safety Act 2022.

Dempster is a member of the Property Litigation Association. When not working his interests include rugby league, test match cricket, wild swimming and the works of Thomas Hardy.
